How to find help

A mental illness in the family can lead to all kinds of challenging situations.  Knowing whom to call for help is often half the battle.

Crisis and Emergency information:

  • Call 911 or visit your local hospital emergency room.
  • Contact a nurse at Telehealth Ontario by dialing 1-866-797-0000.
  • Call our local MHMR crisis line.
  • Call your local crisis line available on the Distress centres website (www.dcontario.org)

While the Ontario Suicide Prevention Network does not provide crisis intervention, they do list on their website contact information for an organization that may be able to help in your area (www.ospn.ca).  They also recommend that you look up the Emergency contact information listed on the first page of your telephone book.

NAMI Programs:

For local resources and support groups, please click on Course Locations tab and click on the city closest to you.
